Our History

Emma Weir and Stephen McAlinden founded Eban in Hong Kong in 1995. Like the 'Iban', the tribe of Sarawak headhunters from which we derived our name, we set out to foster a non-hierarchical culture of openness and meritocracy. The company was built around a vision to create the most professional integrated global financial services boutique search platform in the market, working in long-term partnership with a very select client base. Now, with Eban's franchise firmly established across ex-Japan Asia, Europe, Japan and America, we've made that vision a reality. Our consultants have been voted best individual headhunters in ex-Japan Asia and Japan, and the company has also been named best search firm in both of these markets.
